A few weeks ago I sent this shoutout:
Hi guys, hope you don't mind this shoutout. In 2007 whilst on a visit to the Philippines, I fell ill and was confined at the Makati Medical Center. During that brief confinement, this is one of the nurses who looked after me.
She is such a symbol of Filipino diligence and care.
Can you help locate her? I wish to extend my thanks personally.
As you all know, I am campaigning right now about racism from the Daily Mail towards Pinoy nurses. Would be nice to know where this nurse is now, is she still with you or maybe she went abroad.
Salamat po,
Malcolm
Well, through social media, I found out who she was. She is Katrina Manansala. At the time I was admitted at Makati Medical Center, she was still fresh off from the Remedios Trindidad Romualdez Memorial Schools-MMC, now known as Makati Medical College.
She moved to Singapore in 2010 and is now employed in a hospital where she is assigned in the Chronic Sickness Unit/Long Term Care, handling all bedbound and tracheostomy patients. These are mostly elderly patients. The same hospital has sent her for further studies at the Nanyang Polytechnic to further learn about Nursing Gerontology.
I've been a recipient once of her care and surely, Katrina will also be a great blessing to the elderly patients she attends to.
Malcolm Conlan talks about why he wants to visit Negros Island in 2015.
