HANSEL AND GRETEL is the musical play for children in the country wherein Kids Acts Philippines intently integrated the most important learning theory of Dr. Howard Gardner of Harvard University which is called the Eight Multiple Intelligences of the Children. In the play, we incorporated every intelligence type in the specific scenes to enable children appreciate the total importance of learning while being entertained by the play. This musical play for kids and by the kids is an advocacy to augment the interest of kids in performing arts.
SYNOPSIS:
Next to a great forest there lived a poor woodcutter with his wife and his two children. The boys name was Hansel and the girls name was Gretel. One evening of a famine time, the parents talk about how their kids could survive during the worst season. They both agreed to let them wander into the woods to gather food and stay in the heart of the forest until the starvation is over. Not considering the danger that they may encounter in the forest, the kids obeyed their parents' request. They gathered white and shining pebble stones to make their way as their guide to go back home after the famine. In the heart of the forest, they met the Wild Animals such as Lion, Tiger, Zebra, Giraffe, Elephant, the Fairies like Fire, Earth, Air and Water, Pixies, the Garden Insects and the Dwarfs. The most terrifying event was when they met the Old Woman in the Mysterious Cottage that was made of cake and candy who lured them and captured Hansel to be her food and made Gretel her slave. After thirty days, the kids were freed from the old womans custody when Gretel pushed and locked her inside the oven with a small chance of saving her wicked life. They ran outside the forest until they found the large beautiful lake where the enchanting Duckling lived. The duckling helped them crossed the lake by granting a smooth ride on the her back. On the other side of the lake was the village where they lived with their parents, and they spent time happily than ever as a complete family again.
