Why I love the Philippines and Filipino people - a blog by Malcolm Conlan
Why I love the Philippines and Filipino people, from a Brit in London.
The first time I visited the Philippines, I was around 18 years old. It was one of my first trips abroad. The first time I stepped foot into the country, I felt at home. The Filipino people are so friendly, caring and welcoming. Wherever I went, I was greeted with a friendly welcome and a smile. I also felt incredibly safe wherever I went!
The Filipino people are known for their hospitality and of course their smiles, even during times of adversity like during Typhoon Ondoy back in 2009 when images were flashed around the world of Filipino's smiling and also being very resourceful in trying to escape the flooding. On my many visits to the country, I have always been amazed to see such a positive and resourceful people.
I have fallen in love with the country and never stopped visiting. Last year, I made my 30th visit to the Philippines and I am still captivated by the culture, history and indeed people.
There are so many wonderful places to visit and so much to see and do. It really is More Fun in the Philippines and that's because the Filipino people make it such a fun and exciting country to visit.
Thanks so much to all the Filipino people for making me feel so welcome in the country I now refer to as my second home. Pilipinas Mahal kita!
