ADVISORY NO. 3
TABANG SENDONG APPEAL
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) provided the following update on relief efforts for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Sendong (International Name: Washi) which we are providing for the information and guidance of the Filipino Community in the United Kingdom and their friends:
1. Operations are in the early recovery stage. The priority needs identified are the following: tents, blankets, folding beds, temporary shelters, cooking utensils, GI sheet for shelter roofing, generators, and school supplies for children.
2. Cash donations, however, are encouraged in order to provide flexibility and facility to both governmental and non-governmental organizations directly involved in relief operations.
It would be appreciated if the Embassy of the Philippines in London (embassy@philemb.co.uk) is informed when donors, whether individuals or organizations, send their donations to the Philippines to facilitate collation of information.
We wish to further caution possible donors to deal only with legitimate and bona fide organizations or individuals who seek to collect donations for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Sendong.
